About me
I've been a therapist for fifteen years, and work in Ryedale as a Supervisor at Redcar. I completed a three year training programme in Relational Counselling at the Scarborough Psychotherapy Training Institute, followed by an additional years training in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am also trained in Child Counselling and in Supervision.
I am an accredited Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Before training to be a therapist I worked as a teacher and senior manager in Schools and Colleges for thirty years. During this time I worked with a wide range of people of different ages and backgrounds who were often struggling with difficulties or disadvantages. In my last post I was responsible for student welfare, equal opportunities and child protection, as well as managing the College counselling service.
I am an accredited member of the UKCP, and am bound by their code of ethics and good practice. I have personal indemnity insurance and receive monthly professional supervision. I regularly attend conferences, in the UK and abroad, and other training to keep pace with current developments in the field.
I find my work very rewarding. It is a privilege to help others to work through problems, understand themselves and grow, and the experience informs and enriches my work with all clients.
